What are we asking for here? What is Jesus telling us to ask for?
There are at least two ways that we are seeking and asking that God’s will be done. The first aspect of His will being done is what we call His decretive will. His decretive will is the will that only He knows, until it comes to pass.
We get this understanding from Deuteronomy 29:29.
“The secret things belong to Yahweh our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
The first part of the verse shows us that there are things that God knows, that we do not know, but these things will come to pass.
