Thy Kingdom Come

Sermon on the LORD's Prayer

Psalm 110:1

Yahweh says to my Lord:
“Sit at My right hand
Until I put Your enemies as a footstool for Your feet.”

This is the focus point for the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus came in the First Advent, proved Himself to be the true Son of God, and the true Son of Man. He proved Himself to be the true Israel. He proved Himself to be the true Priest, the true King, and the true prophet. He proved Himself to be the last Adam.

In fulfilling all of the roles that mankind failed to fulfill, He proved Himself to be the priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. He proved Himself in every way possible.

Then He laid down His life, on behalf of His people, paying the debt of sin for them, and was raised up again on the third day.

After 40 days, He ascended into heaven, where He sits, and rules, at the right hand of the Father. And while He is ruling at the right hand of the Father, the Father and Son are dealing with all His and our enemies. And the Son is doing the same.

But He will not move from that throne, to return for the Second Coming, until all His and our enemies are made a footstool.

This means that our King will not come, until there is worldwide peace, with the only enemy left to be defeated is death itself.

So you see, we have the exact opposite view of Christ’s final return than the Dispensationalist have. They believe Christ will return when the church is under great persecution and wickedness is ruling the earth.

We believe that He will not return until the wicked are subdued and vanquished. We see the hope of the gospel expanding out and leavening the entire loaf of mankind. WE see this, because we’ve been told that this is what WILL take place.
